A friendly flower vendor at work one morning |
Santa wasn't paying attention and had me on the "Good Boys" list for his rounds a week ago, and he left me a new computer. The one I've been using wasn't a screaming dynamo when it was originally purchased over six years ago, so this new operating system and interface is a quantum leap forward for me, to say the least.
Those of you with me in the later middle-age group probably understand that there's now a long list of things that need to be done to be up and running again: files to be transferred, software to download and re-install in addition to a learning curve that gets steeper each time we're faced with them. It's fun - to a point - and quite frustrating the rest of the time. I'm not complaining, just stating facts. If someone asks me for help with a new device, game or program I usually tell them to ask their child or young relative; they're the ones who seem to best understand the current technology.
So while I expected to be back up and running by today, that ain't gonna happen. I'll do my best to be back with something Thailand related tomorrow, if the Grand Spirits of Technology are willing.
Nevertheless, it is a new year - 2012 or 2555, depending - and I wish you all the very best over the coming twelve months!
